Calgary, AB – Pets&Apartments™ Inc. (P&A) officially launched its Calgary office today with a number of free services as a means of improving the current state of relations between property managers and responsible pet owners in the Calgary area.

Pet owners in Calgary now have free access to what has been deemed an essential service for millions of North American pet owners: Pets&Apartments™ comprehensive pet-friendly apartment listings. Plus, Pets & Apartments™ offers a free tenant and pet resume system allowing responsible pet owners to register their pet history by detailing their current residence and pets, and previous properties, for free.

“Our goal is to foster more opportunities of trust and understanding for responsible pet owners and North American property management,” said Marrett Green, President, Pets&Apartments™ Inc. “Moving with a pet can be very stressful and this is a positive move in a forward direction designed to reduce responsible pets owners’ stress in having to prove accountability with their pets in their previous homes. And on the other side, property managers now have one stop to make to get all the accurate information they need to approve responsible pet owners.”

Pets & Apartments is already working closely with the Calgary Apartment Association, and the Cochrane and Calgary Humane Society.

"In 2007, 25% of owner surrendered animals were due to moving or no-pet housing," according to Cheryl Wallach, Manager of Communications at the Calgary Humane Society. "This is an increase – it was 17% in 2004."

"...we certainly do regularly see pets surrendered due to housing issues," says Tracy Donst of the Cochrane and Area Humane Society, "And...it is very distressing for people to have to give up their beloved pets for this reason. "
