BC, Pets ‘N’ Apartments Inc. (P&A) officially launched its free service today as a means of improving the current state of relations between property managers and responsible pet owners in the Greater Vancouver area.

“P&A will inevitably foster more opportunities of trust and understanding for members of pet communities and property management associations,” said Marrett Green, President, Pets &Apartments Inc.

P&A is a tenant and pet resume registry system that allows responsible pet owners to register their information including current, and any past, property managers’ records verifying their tenancy and actions as responsible pet owners. Pets & Apartments also serves as a free reference check and communications resource for property managers now receiving complete reference checks on registered tenants and their pets from one resource. Furthermore, property managers get to list their pet friendly properties for free.

Property managers can also come together at P&A to report, and list, irresponsible pet owners who have damaged and vacated their rented residence. This feature along with Pets & Apartments’ primary function as a pet resume registry will eventually eliminate virtually all opportunities for irresponsible pet owners to deceptively apply with false information, about themselves or their pets, in the future.

Pets & Apartments is a positive move in a forward direction for pet communities and property managers associations; reducing stress for tenants with pets having to prove they’re responsible pet owners. “This reference service in combination with the changes to the Residential Tenancy
Act i.e. pet deposit will enable owners and managers to now proceed with a little more confidence in renting to pet owners,” said Anna Bokurak, Residential Property Manager, Associated Property Management (2001) Ltd.
